Also own a small wooden stall that just sadly lives in the corner of the hall way no use what so ever but i by pass it every day its been there for 8 year.

Tents and camping gear. Not camped for years but can't bear to part with my gorgeous canvas bell tent plus the rest. I'm not sure I'll ever be physically able to camp again due to a dodgy hip and knees buggered from an old biking accident.

Catlad · 26/02/2025 16:35

My friend died; I inherited a bag that was hers, and inside were a pair of her old pyjamas. I can’t bring myself to throw them away, but also couldn’t wear them. So they just sit in my drawer making me sad every time I see them.

Rainbow1235 · 26/02/2025 16:42

boxset of miss Marple dvds unopened as u can watch all episodes on I player but I just like knowing they are there 😂

NewMarmiteJar · 26/02/2025 16:46

Exercise bike. It holds plastic bags and other crap in the cupboard.

Moier · 26/02/2025 16:47

A vibrator..
Yes it's true!.

YourHappyJadeEagle · 26/02/2025 16:49

A few items of my late DH’s clothing and a pair of his glasses. And a book that has his writing in it.

MifsBr0wn · 26/02/2025 17:04

An old camera I won in a raffle yonks ago. It's bulky and heavy and everything has to be set manually so it's way out of date but somehow I just can't get rid of it.

AddictedToBooks · 26/02/2025 17:11

The pram that we bought for our daughter.

ViciousCurrentBun · 26/02/2025 17:19

I have my dolls house in the loft, it is 50 years old and 3 other younger relatives have played with it but it’s always been returned to me. I do also have my wedding dress but I have said I want to be buried or cremated in it. Sometimes I feel just like wearing it to schlepp round Tesco.

RaininSummer · 26/02/2025 17:39

This thread has made me realize I may have a problem. I have a cat box but no cat (for the past 28 years), 5 old singer sewing machines not fit for use (rescued), whole set of Treasures of the Earth (outing if my daughters are on here), boxed sets of DVDs we never use any more. Could go on.

hoodiemassive · 26/02/2025 17:41

Nothing...tiny house which hardly fits people in so no space to store anything which isn't used.

Kilroywashere · 26/02/2025 17:55

I've been selling off my old clothes on ebay, also some of MIL's from the 1940s! It's more for fun than profit,

BTW, would anyone like a free canoe? It's been cluttering up the shed unused for about 30 years.

BeaAndBen · 26/02/2025 18:00

The cat.

Useless, floor-shitting, neurotic shedding bastard that causes endless problems but we’re stuck with the bugger. Somehow love him and hate him at the same time.

(The other cat is great, btw)

Let them go, your friend wouldn't want you to be sad 💐

Floralnomad · 26/02/2025 18:26

We have a very lovely Yamaha Clavinova ( weighted key electric piano) that I bought just after my dad died in 1990 , I shopped as therapy and that has not been played for about 5 yrs and prior to that played about once a year . It still works fine . I could put a really nice unit in its place if I could just get rid but it’s still sitting here .

Normallynumb · 26/02/2025 18:43

@Catlad
Could you have something made/ make something from the material of the pyjamas
My friend makes things from clothing etc to use as memory items of those they have lost
She recently lost her own DH to MND

tattoonewbie · 26/02/2025 19:03

@plainandsimpl wish you lived by me as we have a leaking tank and need to rehouse my fish which the kids no longer care about but which seem fit as fiddles !

tattoonewbie · 26/02/2025 19:17

@Catlad your friend wouldn't want you to be sad I'm certain. Keep a small piece of the fabric and put it away somewhere if you need to keep something. 🌷

Not sure of the exact name for it, but it's six foot tall, quite good looking but never does the bloody hoovering.

Next-door neighbour?

EmeraldDreams73 · 26/02/2025 19:24

So many things!

Tons of clothes in sizes from 12-20. Obvs am going to be thin again so will need the small ones. 😬

An antique doll's pram that belonged to my Nan in the 1920s. It's really dusty, hard to clean, visitors always find it creepy, and these days I have nowhere to put it so it sits on the miniscule landing upstairs, getting in the way.

Various antiques from the family farm - nothing of any value but I can't bear to part with them. Including an actual Victorian top hat, somewhere. Probably ruined in the attic.

Tons of baking stuff from when my dds both had a 10 year obsession. Lots of moulds and cutters taking up space despite regular culls. They both got given SO much baking stuff for years.

Very little money tied up in any of it, but REALLY need more space...

hattie43 · 26/02/2025 11:36

My size 12 clothes .
I am a 16 and have been for a decade .

Me too - but I lost lots of weight last year . What a joy to get all those clothes out and wear them again.

Vitriolinsanity · 26/02/2025 19:49

Last weekend I cleared out the craft cupboard which has not been opened in 10 years.

I chucked a load and put the rest in a box outside saying "Take Me".

Gone in the hour.

Cosyvibes · 26/02/2025 20:05

This thread has made me quite emotional 😢 must be my hormones 😭 (not pregnant, its peri 🤪) it's minded me of all the belongings we have had over the years that I've sold or given away. For some reason I want them all back it's like a slight grief 🙁

Anyhow... like pp I have loads of clothes from a size 8 up to a 18. Would like to one day be in a smaller size again.

I have boxes and boxes of restaurant receipts, hotel bills, plane tickets, cards basically memories. I also have shit loads of photos and pictures the dc made me when they were young and at school. I put in the family group chat the other day should I bin it all? Because when I die it will probably just get binned anyway. Dc said to keep them because it's memories for them to look through when me and dh pop off up to the Pearl gates. So here I am dear reader stuck with loads of boxes until the end of my days 🤷‍♀️😕

Emotionalsupporthamster · 26/02/2025 20:09

My husband smashed the lid of my heart shaped la creuset casserole dish too, and I also can’t bear to get rid of it yet never use it. I’m quite tickled to think of all those lonely old lidless but pretty dishes out there!

InMyMNEra · 26/02/2025 13:55

The George Foreman grill. We haven’t used it for years, but Dh refuses to get rid of it

We still have a dvd player in the living room.

I gave away most of my smaller clothes that no longer fit

Books such as The Gruffalo, etc, but I can’t bear to part with. Kids are teens

Do people still use them? Somehow I thought the airfryer had replaced them. You've just reminded me that I have a grill thing also taking up a shelf and a blender that I have never used.
