Alexander Stadium Birmingham. Help please.

I will be attending an event at the stadium later in the year. I am travelling by car and will be staying a few nights, can anyone advise a good location to stay.
I'm open to driving to the stadium but unsure about parking availability or staying somewhere with parking that has easy public transport links to the stadium.
I don't know the area and would appreciate info on any parts to avoid!

Alexander Stadium is in an area called Perry Barr, which is mainly a residential area. There’s a Travelodge near the stadium that’s got onsite parking.
Alternatively you can get a train to Perry Barr from New Street if you wanted to stay in the city centre, but city centre parking is expensive.
You will need to check if where you are planning to drive is within Birmingham’s clean air zone and if so, you’ll need to check your vehicle registration which will tell you whether you’ll have to pay the charge.
