Anyone else lose the run of themselves when they have the cold?

I’m full of the cold, it’s moved from on my chest to my sinuses and I’m a mouth breathing shambles, but worse, I’m knackered and can’t think straight or get anything done. Is this normal? I do t remember being so incapacitated before!

Yes me too, in fact the cold is gone but I still feel absolutely wrecked and can't get anything done.

Get some sudafed pronto.

I always feel like people under estimate how bad you feel with 'just a cold'.
The headache, blocked nose/sinuses, ear ache, queasy feeling from all the phlegm and the tiredness are all awful.
On top of that you are expected in work because it's 'just a cold'!

@Rawnotblended I am absolutely with you ! I am still recovering from a cold which started over 2 weeks ago. I am asthmatic so that hasn't helped, but I can control that pretty well with inhalers. However I am still feeling totally wrecked. Really really tired and 'under the weather' is the de facto bachground hum now to getting through the days. And I live in a warm climate ! (tho' have had a very damp spell recently) I am considering B12 jabs to kickstart an energy boost....hadn't thought about Sudafed but it used to make me feel quite 'jumpy' when I took it in UK (pseudoephedrine). I have just checked and you can get it here.....I'll try anything !

Some colds just get thrown off easily - others make you feel you're going to die. My things that help are - boiled hot salty water gargling all the time for first 3 days - nasal sinus washing, disgusting and sticky but works, and yes to B12 injections (but don't forget other B vits and folinic acid to avoid getting out of balance).

Yes Sudafed made me jittery but not able to think any clearer. I’ve just been to the shop and lost the ability to accurately identify baked goods. I was just gesturing at a current bun and grunting. Luckily biggest child understood. It had no taste when I ate it.

Am now under a heated blanket with a glass of wine and warm lemonade and feel slightly less shit.

What the FECK is nasal washing? How?

Ok, you'll be so happy you asked...

buy some "nasal douche salts" - or tbh table salt is better than nothing.

Boil water, if you're being really careful leave to cool. I usually top up with tap water as I don't think it's any more germy for being less sterile.

Lean over a sink- where other humans can't see the disgustingness- plug one nostril, sniff a load of liquid up your nose. Let it go down the back of your throat and come out your mouth. Gag. Splutter. Blow your nose 100 times.

Repeat.

It takes a bit of time to feel OK about sniffing it into your nose. You feel a bit waterboarded. But you soon get used to it.

Have you had chills or a fever? Could it be the flu? I went down with it Christmas Day and it floored me and DH for over a week. Feel better soon!
