How much did your teen spend on their bf/gf's for their 18th birthday gift?

DC (18) has been dating a girl for 6 weeks, his longest relationship so far, and he is keen to nurture the relationship. Her 18th birthday is imminent and she has dropped hints for a present in the region of £100-£150. This is approximately what he earns per month from his part time job.

To me it seems a bit much for such a new relationship, but obviously it's not my money or decision.

I'm curious - how much did your teen spend in similar circumstances?

After 6 weeks nah I'd not be encouraging that, they are being taken for a mug a nice £30 gift is fine and if it's not then they are not the person for them.

It's a long time since mine were 18 one dd had a boyfriend of 7/8 months and I think she spent £50 on him

I'm afraid if she is "dropping hints" for a present at that price it would make me feel she is quite a grasping person out for what she can get.

After 6 weeks I would think something in the region of £ 50 or £60 would be amply generous.
