Basement

If you have built a basement or own a home where a basement was built, may I ask you how you are finding it?

I'm thinking especially of homes where there was not a basement and instead the ground was dug up and a basement built as is increasingly happening with 1930s houses. Access is often from outside rather than an internal stairway.

Do you consider a basement to be a great addition and would you pay a premium for it?

We had a basement, my dad used it as his office and then it became my room. OLD house. Don't understand why you would have external only access though.
