how can I get fully clean without hot water?

Waiting for boiler repair again but had a v menopausal night and need a full wash.

All I can think is to boil a couple of kettles, floof soap into a floofer stand in shower rub all over and then rinse off using jugs of water. Is there anyway else? I really don't want to have to get DH but I'll have to if it's the jugs due to limited mobility.

I was v sweaty so a flannel wash won't cut it, and I'm not hard enough for a fully cold shower!

Honestly, it's a bit milder now, you can do a cold shower and you'll feel great afterwards!

I know, sadly fully cold on my head triggers migraines/ice pick headaches which are excruciating. Might do my hair separately and then do my body under cold

When our boiler broke I boiled the 2 biggest pots we have of water to have a bath.

I’ve had this. I just did about five kettles of boiling water into a bit of cold on the bottom of the bath. Shallow bath. Flannel and plastic jug. It was fine. Couldn’t wash hair that way though.

Buy a camping shower. It's like a garden pump sprayer, but with a shower head on the end of a hose. You fill it with comfortably hot water, pump it up (or get someone else to do that) and just stand in your shower cubicle and shower almost as normal.

Small cup and a basin and one kettle should do it. You dont need really hot water to rince off.

And fill the basin with cold water and leave it stand in the shower or a large pot in the kitchen for your next wash as room tempeture water will be warmer than tap water.

Quick dash to the local leisure centre?

Would a babywipe wash help ?
If not a bowl of hot water and
a bowl of warm water to rinse with.
I had a boiler break before Christmas and managed for 5 days. It was grim but doable.

Get a couple of days gym pass

MerryMint · 24/02/2025 08:03

I used these after surgery and they're great

Lovelyview · 24/02/2025 08:06

Go to a friend's house. They'll be delighted to help.

Thanks but I was v sweaty and stink! Really need a full wash.

Love the camping shower suggestion, might get one as this is the fourth boiler fail this winter, it's nearly 19 bless it so this might be terminal ..

Stand in the shower/bath with bucket of warm water, use a jug to rinse off, easy peasy.

theressomanytinafeysicouldbe · 24/02/2025 08:09

Go for a swim and use their showers

JaninaDuszejko · 24/02/2025 08:11

Another vote for the local leisure centre. Or, have an electric shower (if multiple bathrooms just on one) so that it's not an issue again. If the electric shower fails you can still have a bath from the boiler.

Aparecium · 24/02/2025 08:13

But for today, jugs or hardcore.

Hols23 · 24/02/2025 08:15

Local leisure centre, friend's house or neighbour's house.

I wouldn't ever consider a cold shower, even in the height of summer 🥶

Phunkychicken · 24/02/2025 08:16

Problem with going to leisure centre is need to be in for the repair people. Thankfully can shower at work tomorrow if needed. Some great ideas though, totally down a camping shower rabbit hole now

We bought Nilaqua for elderly relative who was unwell and it was excellent.

frozendaisy · 24/02/2025 08:20

Friend’s house if they are still around before work or WFH whilst H is still at home?

If not boiling water in bath boil three pans, take kettle as close as you can and half fill a bath with the boiled water and cold

Or a cold shower just keep head from getting wet

MyUmberSeal · 24/02/2025 08:23

Go for a swim, even if it’s just 10 minutes and a few lengths. Nice hot shower afterwards.

BMW6 · 24/02/2025 08:27

Strip wash at the sink with one bowl of water surely? I did this for 2 weeks when our bathroom was being renovated.

Ewwww preferably a shower BEFORE the swim in the OP's circumstances.
