i am buying a golf

i can decide between cars which are all the same price ?

1 brand new car ( in stock) medium spec but everything I need 2025 plate

2 a higher spec r line golf 5000 miles demonstrator car with more stuff and a sun roof and higher interior ( same engine as one) 2024

3 a almost new 1000 mile golf hybrid plug in ex demonstrator car. Would need to buy charger. 2024 plate

all the same price. I only drive around 5k miles a year so not too much.

which is a better decision ? I don’t know much about cars

None of them, buy a Toyota instead.

Thanks I can’t change manufacturers as I am too nervous to change so will stick to golf but which one!

I'd have a look at the same models & specs on autotrader but 3/4 years older and see which is holding its value best. That'll give you a good idea on value for when you choose to change again. Electric drop horrifically in the first year or two.

Is any of them over £40K because you’ll pay higher road fund licence if so. Considerably more I believe.

Sheldonsheher · 23/02/2025 19:43

Yes thanks I know about the 40k tax threshold they are all under that

Number 2. R Lines look gorgeous. Standard models - blah.

Sheldonsheher · 23/02/2025 20:10

R line is it ok for a family? Do the sports seats take room out back seats?

Nope, same space as normal spec golf.

hushabybaby · 23/02/2025 22:25

Ooh I love a golf I've had 3!
Personally for a family , I'd probably buy the new normal one with all the warranty etc,

However, the R is 😃 but how fast do you need to go?

Or try and get a ex demo higher spec 1.9 with all bells and whistles. You have to drive each demo car as ttey are all so different!

Sheldonsheher · 23/02/2025 22:36

It’s only r line it’s not a r . So goes normal speed it’s just cosmetic I think although it says sports suspension which I don’t know what that is

Also they are all vw dealer approved with some warranty.

I use a Golf GTI, it’s a really good city car.

Clevs · 23/02/2025 23:08

Personally I'd go for number 2. You'll suffer the depreciation on a brand new car (number 1) but with number two you're getting an almost new car that's already had the depreciation. Plus the R-Line looks better.

I have a VW ID3 similar to a golf but all electric. I love it so much.
