Anyone else had a problem with Uber Eats?

I placed an order this evening, driver called me to say that they wouldn’t deliver to my area (9 minute drive away)

No resolution offered, no refund option, nothing. Was just told it wasn’t going to be delivered

Went to the restaurant in the hope that I could collect from there, but was told that it had already been collected

Order page now has a picture of the order on my doorstep (not my doorstep - I’ve spent the afternoon sanding it down, which is why I ordered a delivery in the first place). Now been told that I’m not entitled to a refund 🤬

Any advice, wise MNetters?

(We’ve done absolutely nothing over half term, working + DIY so this was supposed to be a well earned treat) 😭

Does it give you the option on the site saying food not delivered. Send them a photo of your door and the picture they sent you also screen shot the driver calling you and send that

Is this a scam? If you ordered on your credit card you should have protection from them too. Try Uber Eats first then go to your bank.

ohfourfoxache · 22/02/2025 21:50

Hadn’t thought about my bank, thank you Flowers

The restaurant had a record of the order so suspect it was put through legitimately Hmm

I’ve gone through the “food not delivered” option but because there is a picture/apparent call logs from him to me (not sure about vice versa?) they said that it’s been delivered and I’m not eligible for a refund Angry

I’m so, so pissed off - I’ve had to work all week, trying to get the house on the market and I’ve done NOTHING with the kids over half term. This was supposed to just be a little something that we could all just enjoy. So angry and feel like bursting into tears all at once

Similar happened to me so I rang their customer service. I was told it’s not in their policy to refund. They would not budge so I’d never use them again.

Gravytanned · 22/02/2025 21:53

I haven't had that issue but I've had so many issues with food arriving cold and never getting anywhere with Uber that I've deleted the app.

ohfourfoxache · 22/02/2025 21:57

Oh shit @CuteEasterBunny Sad

I really, really can’t afford this at the moment Sad

Anyone know how I can escalate if they don’t budge?

I've had the same with deliveroo. Tracked the delivery to several hundred yards away where upon it was "undeliverable". £60 worth of pizzas from pizza express which were not refunded. I door knocked and checked all the doorsteps in the area.

Have refused to use them since. Will only order direct from a restaurant now and in general get better food and much hotter.

I empathise, it was the end of a long day for various reasons and there was nothing to hand to eat.

You will get no satisfaction at all I'm afraid.

ohfourfoxache · 22/02/2025 22:16

I’m so sorry to hear that others have had similar experiences Thanks

How the fuck are they able to get away with this??

Just Eat have a code system between the customer and the delivery person. They knock and ask for the code. I'd be so upset too OP. We once had a delivery with half the order missing. It was so disappointing especially as it was late too. 🤬

fashionqueen0123 · 22/02/2025 22:30

In my experience you can try going via twitter (I got money back that way) or using contact your bank. Then never use them again. They are awful and so is deliveroo.

Can your send a photo of your call log and your door? Say you’ll escalate it to your bank

ohfourfoxache · 22/02/2025 22:38

I’m going to @fashionqueen0123 - just need daylight. (Doorstep looks extremely sorry for itself at present, at least it’s distinctive I guess!)

Hopefully that + call log will give me some chance, but from the sounds of it I’m scuppered Sad

Don’t suppose the small claims court might be an option?
