Grandparents utterly uninterested

My kids are older now but it's always been this way.

3 weeks ago my oldest dc moved to a big city for an exciting opportunity. Big change for her (and for me! Thrilled for her but also missing her)

Her nan (DH's mum) sent her some money in a card, and is taking an interest and proud of her. Both DH's sisters have been in touch with him to ask if we've heard how she's getting on. DH's dad gave her a call to wish her well and see if she needs any stuff moving. They're not crowding her but she's on their mind and they hope she's doing okay.

My family - literally nothing. My mum phoned to tell me about an issue she's having with the neighbours. It's not that I want them to do anything, more that I feel sad they genuinely don't find it interesting or relavent that she's doing something exciting. I know my kids are far more interesting to me than they are to anyone else, but surely their grandparents should find them at least a little bit interesting?

That is a shame.
