DH had Type II yearly diabetic blood check with nurse on Tuesday and today had phone call from surgery asking him to attend tomorrow to see the GP (who is the diabetic lead for the surgery). Surprised to be given an appointment for tomorrow but apparently he has a clinic in the morning. Think we're both losing sleep tonight. It's obviously, I think, due to blood results but has anyone else been through this and come out the other side. Any advice very welcome.

My DF had that . Blood sugar wasn’t as controlled as they hoped, changed his meds. All good now

Uncontrolled blood sugars Hba1c may be higher than last test instead.of going down as it should be if managed well and / or on the right medication. May be a sudden meds change / dosage change probably meds if they want face to face and maybe a urine sample. Wouldn't worry too much if it was anything more it would be a doctor but diabetes lead nurse will be a change of meds or talk of referral to the diabetes team like above the nurse an actual clinic specifically for diabetes, where I am it's the things you would have once had to see someone in diabetes department at hospital but now in a community clinic I was called in to be told I was insulin resistant and needed to be referred to the specialists after another high hba1c. Fingers crossed for him

Sorry just seen it was gp me apologies the diabetic lead stayed in my head. Probably is a higher hba1c though more than anything

Thanks everyone. Well today's appointment with the GP confirmed that all the diabetic tests were back, all OK, except for the haemoglobin which was 108. The doc did look at the previous results when he was hospitalised in October with cellulitis following a diabetic ulcer on his toe which turned into cellulitis and was treated successfully with IV antibiotics and the Hb was even lower. So now he's checking for vitamin B12, ferritin and folate plus a poo test. He's been on metformin for years and googling it appears this can cause vitamin B12 deficiency. Anyone else been here?

It's difficult initially, but can you get him on a ketogenic diet?
It's hard at first, but it can make life much easier long term.
