Just thought I would start a new thread as I lie in bed, I clearly enjoy making myself scared shitless!

Anyone have any stories or experiences they would like to share? I've never personally 'seen' a ghost and I'm sure most would say it's because they don't exist and they may well not but I have experienced things as has my mum that just seem hard to explain?

I'll start with one or two. First one is actually my mum's experience. Her best friends husband unfortunately committed suicide but prior to that and especially after their house was not a nice one. Children laughing upstairs when there were no children at home at the time (wasn't next door either and you could hear them running on the landing too), doors banging, mums friends child stated he wanted to play with the children upstairs, used to talk to these children out loud, it was very very creepy! It seemed to get worse after the husband died which was creepy. My mum said she always wanted to know the history of that house.

My own experience was before I did my nursing, I was a carer in the community. I looked after a lovely old lonely lady who was partially blind, she had an old Victorian flat and it was absolutely unnerving I just can't explain it I hated being there but I loved this lady so I would sit and talk to her, she would often say she saw a shadow of a man walk past her bed and did we have male carers come over sometimes? Which we didn't and it didn't make any sense to be anyone else. She had an extra upstairs part which we never went up to because her bed was in the living room but I wouldn't have gone up there as it did not feel like a good idea. The worst thing that happened there to me was I was making a cup of tea for her and I felt someone walk behind me so I turned round and no one was there, I had assumed it was the other carer I was with but I saw her sitting next to the lady in the next room. That absolutely gave me the chills.

An old woman appeared and disappeared in front of my eyes when I was visiting a neighbour in the flats next door when I was a child.

Three months after my mum died, I had a missed call from her on my phone. Her phone had been put back to factory settings and given to her friend weeks before.

I saw a man crossing my hall and walking into my living room in broad daylight.

My bedroom door was knocked on loudly, just after my mum died. It was pushed open too - and we’d had a new carpet laid, so it was quite hard to do. Nobody there in either case.

I have others, but those were the most inexplicable.

My bil and his wife lived in a renovated coach house that belonged to the manor house in a village.
The main bedroom was always freezing cold and they couldn't understand why as the radiators were working perfectly.
My bil owned three Alsatians that were absolutely devoted to him, and followed him everywhere but they would not put a paw over the threshold of the main bedroom if bil had gone in there. They would stay in the hallway acting very agitated.
They had a brass bed with finials in each corner which had huge screws to fasten them to the bed, and numerous times the finials were laid on the bed when no one had been in the house.
My ds and his girlfriend were house sitting for them, and he rang us in the early hours and said they were coming home as the house felt really weird, and my ds is not the type to spook easily.
Bil had a medium or someone come check the house and she said there was definitely a 'presence' there especially in the main bedroom, so she fixed 3 crucifix on the bedhead.Every time they went into the bedroom the crucifix were flipped over the bed head.

They sold the house but that didn't go smoothly, one person on his way for a viewing was involved in a rta,and one potential buyer fell ill and had to pull out.I
The current owners have been there years now, so whether the presence just didn't like my bil, who knows?

When I was pregnant I was convinced I saw a little girl sitting on my parents stairs. She smiled at me and turned and ran off up the stairs.

I always had the strangest feeling that it was my unborn daughter which will sound crazy to most people but that’s how I felt.

A few years ago, I was walking my dog around the local park. This park is pretty big, three football fields next to each other with a long path that goes all the way around and the only ways in and out are at the end.
It was around dusk and I entered the park on the left and started walking up.
In the middle of the middle pitch I saw a man, he was walking away from me and towards the other path.
As I walked up the path, the man got a bench and sat down. He saw me and waved, I looked around, noone else but me, so I waved back.
He got up at started walking towards me.

So at this point he was about the length of a football field away. As he got to the centre bit, I reached the goal and could see him a bit better.
It was my dad.
I stopped in the goal (there was no net) and waited for him. He waved and smiled and kinda hurried a bit.
My dog barked behind me, I turned to see what he barked at, then looked back... My dad was gone.. nowhere to be seen, not a soul on the field....

My dad had died 5 years before...

I swear to this day that it was him and he was visiting to check on me.

There's been a few things for my son . But the one that's most scary is when we were all in my dd bedroom chatting having a giggle ds said he felt like there was something in the room. He seemed a bit upset but tried to ignore it . Then he said something to me in a really deep voice that was not his voice . I said what? As I didn't catch it . Then DS was really white and sweating . He was so scared . He went get a drink from the kitchen. I went with him and he was shaking and so scared saying there a man at the kitchen window with a knife. When the voice thing happend it was very simlar to what would be on most haunted. I'm not sure what I think about that programme body the body language was exactly the same.

There's another time ds saw something on the stairs he said it was like a black thing . It seemed to alive but a really bad feeling. He cried his eyes out begging us not to go up the stairs.

The above happend when he was 13 or 14

When he was younger in a different house he used to tell me he always saw a man up stairs wearing a suit. He had chattering teeth . And he used to go into the inside pocket of his jacket and smoke them smokey things . Ds didn't know what cigarettes were at the time .

He's in his 20s now and things like that have stopped happening

@Youagain2025 that would have spooked the heck out of me.
Mumsnet need a "Wow" react.like - 😱

Anywho.
Not spooky but weird.. unexplained.

20 years ago or so, scanners were all the rage.. probably still are I guess.
I bought one and after scanning silly stuff inset about scanning all the old family photos.
Pile in the left, scanned each one, move to pile on right. About 20 or so. Took an afternoon.
When I was done I moved the pile back to my left and went through to make sure I hadn't missed any... Photo in mhand, photo on screen.

Only.. there was a photo on screen that I didn't have in my hand. Photo of a middle age woman with blonde hair and a huge smile, she was sat on a black and white leopard print style sofa.
I didn't recognise her at all.
I recognised the sofa, my mum and dad had that sofa in the late 80s and was like a modular thing that they moved I to different configurations.

So any way, I showed my mum.. she recognised the woman, but wasn't conpletely sure who it was, she did recognise her sofa and living room wall paper etc. she shouted my dad up and we showed him. He recognised her straight away...

The photo was of my dad's mum..
who had died in the 70s.. before he met my mum.
10+ years before they bought that sofa.

So how did I have a photo on my screen of a woman in the 80s sat on a sofa when she'd died 10+ years before...

My dad told me to print it off, so I tried.. the printer jammed and clogged, we fixed it, but the screen save had kicked in by the time we had. Clicked the mouse to get the screen saver off... Photo was gone. Never to be seen ever again..
But spoke about a lot by us three.

This is a very old post of mine but wanted to post after what happened to me on Monday and what also happened yesterday. So on Monday I was in bed, awake, but eyes shut and felt the feeling of someone getting up off my bed, I felt the shift and you know what I mean right? Except no one was there. My initial and appropriate way of thinking that it was my cat leaving the bed to which I opened my eyes and looked because hes normally locked in the kitchen at night. He wasn't there so I got up, checked a the rooms and went down stairs, kitchen door shut with the cat asleep inside. Clearly was not the cat nor anyone else. I went back to bed, I didn't feel scared but more concerned as to what it was, and my immediate thought was my dad who died 6 years ago and it was after his anniversary (the 9th) but I felt like he was with me but I hadn't felt anything of his presence in 6 years.

My nan died yesterday morning, his mother. Not expected and I am devastated. I then remembered what happened monday in my home. Do you think he was with me because he was waiting for her? I have no other explanation and I certainly wasn't dreaming or having sleep paralysis like google suggested!
