Have bought DS the most expensive creams and washes... nothing works.
I feel bad for him. Any ideas?

Accutane. It's very drying and you need to use a good moisturizer with sunscreen and buy lip balm by the bucket load but it works.

This. Also causes lots of nose bleeds but only thing that really works, even after trying every prescription only cream and lotion available.

Take him to the drs, nothing OTC works. DS has tried Lymecycline (antibiotic tablets) which he thinks made it worse but really did calm down a bit of the angriness and has just been prescribed Duac which I think is benzoyl peroxide and adaplene which is a retionoid combined.

PS just to add, I put off taking him as I thought they wouldn’t take us seriously with the NHS being such a mess but they couldn’t have been more helpful and I feel bad for not taking him sooner!

In our experience over the counter products do not work. Benzoyl Peroxide burns the skin. My DS also had a number of prescriptions for anti-biotics. In the end the GP referred to dermatology and six months of Accutaine fixed his skin.
He's now 23 - if I had my time again when he was 15 I would...back away from any over the counter stuff - just keeping to a very simple wash and moisturiser. If his skin is really bad I would push for dermatology - GP's don't understand skin and will simply prescribe anti biotics.

Yes, it’s a bit less severe than tretinoin but you still need a good moisturiser and sunscreen 😊.
