As a child that grew up in the industrial north of England in the 1970s, I was always slightly in awe of America. As were my friends. It's seemed like the coolest place of endless possibility. Greece, ET, Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller, Pepsi and Coke, Disneyland etc.
If you started a sentence with 'In America..' it lent it an air of credibility and authority. Only slightly joking.
I appreciate that is a child's perception and probably not entirely reflective of reality. It just seems so sad to me that a country that has really been a beacon of hope for so long has become what it is today under Trump.
The last few weeks have been mind blowing to me. As an American or someone living in the US how do you feel about your future?
