Night terrors and 2yo

My 2.5 year old has had 3 (what I think are) night terrors now in the space of a week.
I feel awful for her because she is hysterical, but honestly it scares me so much.
She won't talk, only points, won't look me in the eye and always needs a wee during which has calmed her.
When I pick her up out of the cot to calm her, she kicks her legs and won't sit still like she's scared of me or something and has a vacant look in her eyes. I ask her if she's had a bad dream once she's calmed down and she says yes: twice she's said "mummy's left me" and tonight she didn't say. Tonight she just pointed to her cot and when I put her in, she was just staring blankly.
I feel awful that she's having dream about me leaving her - I would never! She's so loved by all of us. Really unnerving.
Has anyone experienced this at all? If so, what helps?

My children have struggled with this for years. We now know that being strongly overstimulated emotionally before bed can have an impact, as can being too hot. My children have no memory of their night terrors whatsoever the next day, so we’ve never mentioned it to them. I always go and sit with them, talking calmly and making sure they’re safe but that’s about all you can do. They’ve now moved on to being sleepwalkers now they’re older!
If this is new for your child, has anything changed this week?

DD had night terrors between the ages of 2 and 4. Awful to witness. I had heard you shouldn’t try and wake them but I used to as it was the only way to snap her out if it. Over time I realised she was more likely to have them if she was very tired.
