Anxiety

Does anyone get a massive stomach churning pitt of anxiety for no reason?

I woke up at 3am, i havent been back to sleep. I feel sick with worry, physically my hands are shaking, absolute dread, verge of tears, cant manage anything productive,sinking feeling, and i have no idea why. Ive not had any caffeine or anything that can exacerbate it, its just appeared out of no where and now 12 hous later i cant function properly at all.

How do you get past it? Ive tried distraction with tv, music, ive tried to do something to keep me busy but its making me freeze up, ive tried to have a sleep but cant, my mind is just racing with why i am anxious, what has gone wrong. Ive never expereinced this in 40+ years.

Not sure how old you are exactly OP, but you've mentioned '40+ years'.This sounds like the anxiety associated with perimenopause, which occurs as a result of hormone changes and can appear out of the blue.
