How to get the smell of camping out of clothes

I am doing a mountain hike. Bought a windbreaker on Vinted. It’s gorgeous, would have been expensive from a shop, fits great, condition is great… but has obviously been used for heavy camping as it smells musty.

Its a 30 degree wash so I don’t know how to get the stink out without washing higher and I don’t want to do that in case I ruin the tech (which has happened with a lot of my uniqlo stuff because I’ve washed too high, my thermals no longer therm 😂)

any hints or tips?

Try washing on 30 with white vinegar, then hang outside (or somewhere it can air out) until completely dry. Then give it a brush. If it still smells, pop it outside/ in the airing place again.

Thanks, I’ll try this. Does the vinegar go in the drum or the drawer?

I add it to the fabric softener part in the drawer

Try putting in a sealed bag with bicarbonate of soda to absorb the smells

I would wash it with Nikwax cleaner (to protect any technical coatings on the fabric) and then reproof it with the Nikwax waterproofing stuff (you can usually buy a twin pack of both products), then air it out as much as possible.
