Luxurious European honeymoon... resort/hotel links please!!!

Hoping to go at the beginning of August.

I've been looking at Sorrento, Sicily, Sardinia, but the hotels all look really dated, not that luxurious and the prices are crazy.

I'd quite like a bed and breakfast or half board, in a nice town where we can mooch around for some lunch and look at the shops. Things to do nearby.

I'd also like a lovely big pool area.

Everywhere seems to be all inclusive with hotel in the middle of nowhere!

Max budget is £2000 pp.

Vetoed cyprus and turkey.

Does anyone know if anywhere that fits the bill?

Looks lovely, it's a bit over budget.

I've been looking on tui/jet 2 for package holidays so far. That's the only way I've ever booked a holiday before!

Hotel Bristol in Sorrento is lovely. We paid for a junior suite. We have been x3 there. It isn't cheap but it is your honeymoon..

Stella Island Crete or an IKOS Resort

I would really think hard about what the weather will be like in August.

BIL went to Sicily in August for his honeymoon and described the weather as 'brutal'.

DH and I went to Bologna, I spent much of it refusing to leave our air conditioned room. Which was OK as it was our honeymoon but a bit of a waste of a trip to Italy.

If you are set on Italy then I wouldn't do a package, resorts are not such a big thing there.
