If you have 3 kids do you have a 5 or 7 seater?

That's it really. Wondering whether it's worth getting a 7 seater.

A 5 seater with two optional seats in the boot. Main thing for me was three full size seats across the middle row to fit proper car seats and hbbs.

7 seaters have been good for us

  • when 3rd came along we had a Seat Alhambra as it had the 3 equal seats in the middle row for car seats and 2 pop up seats in the boot.

Recently change it for a VW Tiguan. As only 1 in still in a car seat so we had more flexibility. 2 extra seats in the boot aren’t as spacious as the seat but they’re just for extra kids now and again so it’s fine.

7 seater. It's my second. Mainly because my DC are very tall, we camp and we have a dog. The space is fantastic!

We had a 5 seater when DC were very small. As a PP has said, the main concern was 3 full size seats across the back.

7 seater - Seat Tarraco

We had a 5-seater Seat Ateca but we couldn’t fit 3 car seats across the back. I love having the 7-seater because we can easily fit the pram, groceries, go on road trips etc.

My DC will be in car seats for a while longer, but I imagine we’ll go back to a 5-seater once they don’t need them anymore.

7 seater because then you can also take friends. We had a landrover discovery once we hit 3.

5 seater but would love a 7 seater ☺️

7 seater - Peugeot Rifter. We camp a lot so need the rear space with the seats out, but also means we can take friends/grandparents out with us.
The sliding doors are an absolute godsend.

We moved to a 7 seater (well, 5 seater plus 2 pop up seats in the boot) when we had DC number 3, and have found it invaluable. Mainly for taking out our kuds and friends, and love the huge boot for camping, which we do a lot of. They tend to be a bit wider too, so as others have said, you can fit 3 car seats across one row. Ours our tween/teens now and we have a Ford Galaxy which is working out well.

7 seater - Citroen SpaceTourer, it provides an ample amount of space, and even with the back two seats up, still leaves room in the boot for a foldable buggy.

Almost everyone I know with 3 kids has a 6 or 7 seater, we only had 2 and had a big Volvo estate and then moved onto a 7 seater for the space and all the activities with friends the DC did.

Same here. We have a Peugeot 5008.

@bathroomadviceneeded Can I ask what age are your kids and what car seats are they in?
i am due #3 soon and we already have a seat taracco. But with not being able to fit 3 seats in the middle row, assumed we would need a new car. Which child and car seat can go in the boot seat?

Whe my now wife & I discovered we were about to have a child we got a Zafira as I already had a son and we could also accommodate her parents if needed

We then had another son & when the Zafira died we got a Kia Karens

We now have a Ceed estate - 5 seater and take the 'second car' a Kia Picanto if we need extra space

Boys are now 24, 17 & 15
