Spring is in the air!

Yes it is cold but there is something very spring like about today!
I'm excited to get back out in the garden and some nice weekend days out with the family.
What's your favourite thing about Spring?

Not here it’s not 😭. My favourite tho g about spring is that summer is on its way!

HeebieJeebeez · 19/02/2025 15:52

Yes we had an hour of sun and blue skies. Sorted a couple of plant pots. Washing on the line. Was good to get in the garden for a bit. Now it's grey and cold

My thoughts too! Just a promise at the moment, but a hopeful one. I cut the lawn yesterday as it’s been dry, and the sun was out, and did the edging this morning. More bird activity recently, too. The Robin bathing in my dish of water, and a couple of goldfinches came down for a drink (I don’t see them too often). Good to see!

I got positively warm in my living room today just from sunlight coming in!

festivemouse · 19/02/2025 15:59

It does!! I did a few minor trims yesterday and I must say so many things are budding and sprouting up, it's so exciting!

Topseyt123 · 19/02/2025 16:00

I always consider it spring when bluebells, daffodils etc. start appearing and I can see buds on our ornamental cherry tree. I think that these things will be happening quite soon, but they aren't there yet.

The sight of them makes me happy.

I also like the warmer weather when I can put washing on the line, which I haven't been able to do for what feels like months at the moment.

Gloomy here all day today. Went out for 10 minutes to see if anything new is coming up. Snowdrops, crocuses and hellebores so far. A few frost/wind damaged shrubs. Getting a bit impatient now🌞
It was quite nice yesterday although a chilly wind but I was looking after my poorly DGD so didn't get outside.

That happened to me the other day. It was sunlight coming in through the glass patio doors. It was lovely, but as soon as the sun had gone off that area (late morning, towards midday) it was cold again.

We're awash with snowdrops and daffodils around here already. I love the promise of longer days, and being able to leave the house without wrestling the baby into a snowsuit and a hat.

WonderingWanda · 19/02/2025 16:04

The narcissi in my pots are starting to flower but it still doesn't feel like spring yet, so cold still.

Gall10 · 19/02/2025 16:05

Still fucking freezing in Tyneside!

ElizaMulvil · 19/02/2025 16:20

Hazel catkins ( since late January), snowdrops and a few pathetic crocus trying to come up ( looking as though the effort will kill them off). Grass not growing yet.

Not slightest sign of daffodils or any other spring flowers - far too cold. Had snow flakes a couple of mornings ago.

Over wintering flock of blackbirds still not left for Russia / Scandinavia, crows still got last year's 2 youngsters with them, no movement of buds on any trees/ bushes yet, Bird bath frozen solid this morning again.

South Yorks/Derbyshire borders.

Redheadedstepchild · 19/02/2025 16:54

Snowing here on Little Rocky Island off the coast of Italy.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 19/02/2025 16:58

Well it's not dark yet which is something, but it is still cold grey and miserable.
