We live in a semi-detached house.
NDN have 2 dogs, chickens and a toddler, all very noisy at various times of the day.
But the most annoying is the fact that soon as they go out (which is often) their dogs will bark all day long or for the amount of time they are out. This happens in the week when they go to work and at the weekends when they pop out. On Saturday they went out from 9am-5pm and the dogs barked the whole time. I find it both very frustrating and as a dog lover and owner myself it upsets me because the dogs must be very unsettled to bark continuously like that. As soon as they come back home they stop so it's a form of separation anxiety.
The couple are fully aware of it as they have dog monitors in the house and have said to me there is little they can do as one of the dogs is old, she is semi blind/deaf and gets confused which then starts off the other dog.
I have a very stressful life atm and am supposed to be having weekly hypnotherapy sessions which I have to keep ending because of the noise coming from the dogs, it's really distracting.
I haven't said too much to them because we have a dog too and he does bark, mainly when someone knocks on the door or one of the family comes home but I will stop him and won't let him bark long. I also don't leave him alone at home for long and when I do go out he doesn't bark (I have a monitor too).
I really do not want to fall out with the neighbours but it really is becoming more frequent and very annoying.
How would you bring this up in a diplomatic way?
