Husbands abnormal blood test

Good evening
I’m worried sick about my husband and wondered if anyone had any advice or been through similar please.
we went to GP last week as he keeps coughing g up blood. She did a physical examination and under his ribs right side a lot of pain when she pressed.
his bloods came back and he has ‘hypochromic cells’ at 4.2 which is very high and ‘serum alt’ level 111 which suggests significant liver damage.
he doesn’t drink a lot of alcohol. However has osteoarthritis and takes a lot of pain meds.
we are due to see the GP tomorrow but I wondered if anyone knows what this could be or what it may mean for his future etc.
thank you

Hi @Squigglesandgiggles, under the ribs on the right side is where the liver sits, and the raised ALT is a sign it's not 100% happy. There's something that needs looking into, but it'll be a process of deduction - probably some kind of liver scan, maybe more detailed blood tests. At this stage, it's very nonspecific so impossible to guess what's up.
It's really hard, but best take it step by step at this stage. Sending positive vibes your way!
