What have you forgotten about from when your kid was a baby

Dd, 5, is in my bed, asleep

I just said 'yes' out loud about the love island result (I'm an exciting person) and she was startled and raised both of her hands up, whilst still asleep

It reminded me of when she was a newborn and used to have the moro reflex when she'd sleep, at any tiny sudden noise

She was so cute 😭 but I completely forgot about it. Just got the most vivid flashback

Have any of you experienced this? Gonna go and look at her baby photos now and have a cry at how time is flying

I don't know if I've forgotten parts as mine are in there twenties now but I got a new nephew 5 months ago and oh my! It had been years since I'd looked after a baby and I'd forgot how gorgeous it is.
The bottles and the winding and the cuddles and fitting tiny little legs into little baby grows, the beautiful talc powder smell that only babies seem to have. Just lovely and I'm enjoying every moment I get with him.

How they fit so naturally in my arms. They’re 7 now, and whilst I do very occasionally still cradle them like a baby (either for their amusement or at their request for comfort) they’re both big and don’t fit the way they used to.

Oh, and that delicious baby smell.

Big fat fingers.
Chubby knees.
Leg fat rolls.
Now he’s a skinny teenager 😭

It truly is, I really miss it but at the time was too exhausted to truly enjoy it

Omg yes, mine felt so natural in my arms and on my hip - I still cuddle her now but she's so tall

What I'd give to have that smell in my home again 😩

I bought my kids an ice cream as a treat - Magnum so a proper treat! - and as he unwrapped it my wee boy gave the exact same giggle he used to give when I unclicked my nursing bra. 😆 It made me smile. That delighted anticipation!

I forgot loads of things and then I had grandchildren, which triggered all the memories. From the 1st days right up to now (primary age) it's amazing how many things pop back into my mind, especially when they do/say things like my own did.

Mines only 8 months old and I already miss the pure sweet milk breath (different now he's weaning) and him fitting in my arms without his legs hanging over Sad

One of the small strange and funny things I remember is that when my second DC was a few days old, I brought him home, my 5 yr old DD came to look at him.
I was stunned looking at her lovely little face that had seemed so small the week before, now suddenly looked like a balloon to me!

It was because I'd spent nearly every waking moment staring intently into the tiny face of my newborn, as you do, and not seeing my DD during that time.
So yeah, her face reminded me of a balloon by comparison!

I know it's a thing because I told my friend whose first DC was the same age as mine and she'd recently had a newborn too, and had noticed the same thing, which made us both laugh....just one of many little memories that reading OP's & PPs posts have brought back. Thanks OP for helping bring back so many sweet memories x

I can imagine, must be one of the pure joys of being a grandparent x

Omg when my baby stopped fitting in my arms 😭 just wanted her to stay tiny forever

She's so tall now as well, only 5 and a head below me (I'm 5ft 1)

I have forgotten lots of things I said. DS is always quoting me . I sound quite wise.

That definitely sounds like a thing - looking back at dd's photos last night and couldn't believe how much she's changed, and grown into her features, it felt so weird

That's okay 🥰 thanks for sharing ❤️

How tiny ds was.

Never a chubby baby, when he was new-born he was a long skinny little thing.

Now he's 6' tall but still skinny. 😁
