Fur

An elderly relative has passed away and I have inherited the contents of the house, including a fox fur. I have no idea what to do with it.

Even though the poor animal is long dead I could never bring myself to wear it.

Putting it in the bin seems disrespectful to the animal. I can’t explain why I feel this way, but it just doesn’t feel right.

Any ideas on what to do with it?

Donate it to a charity shop or sell it.

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName give it to a charity shop or wear it. It's not like you've killed an animal to wear it. Everyone will assume it's fake anyway so I wouldn't worry

You could ask local theatres or am dram clubs if they want it for their costume departments?
Charities often have a policy on animal furs so local charity shops might not take it.
Sell it on EBay? If all else fails bury it.

I happily wear fur so long as it was farmed not trapped- don't see how it's different from leather or sheepskin. As for a vintage fur, you can't bring the animals back to life by binning the coat. And real fur is much more sustainable and planet friendly than fake.
But if you can't bear to keep it could you donate it for Ukraine- where it could make a real difference to someone in the cold of winter.

Thanks for suggestions.

i think I would have considered wearing it, but, it still has its face! And paws! They freak me out.

Unfortunately animals in some of the fur farms are in horrendous conditions. I looked into it when dh wanted to get me a jacket. I wouldn't want to feed that trade.

I'd bin it tbh. Charity shops are unlikely to take it (in my experience).
