Looks like Macron is organising another emergency meeting this time with a wider coalition. Interesting to see the 2 blocs forming.

Macron can organise as many conferences as he likes but when you have European nations that have been spending less than 2% of GDP on defence for decades the harsh reality is that their opinion/ views or conferences are irrelevant.

WinterMorn · 18/02/2025 21:33

I will try and find this now, thank you

He’s now wittering on about 300 year olds claiming social security πŸ˜‚ it’s quite the journey.

DuncinToffee · 18/02/2025 21:39

He is blaming Ukraine for being invaded

FOX: How would you guard against Russia installing a puppet government in Ukraine?

TRUMP: You have leadership now that's allowed a war to go on that should've never ever happened, even without the United States

StatuteofLiberty · 18/02/2025 21:39

Great news that Turkey is backing zelensky, interesting about the urkraine elections?

Oh dear trump said Ukraine is the apple of putin eye πŸ˜•πŸ€―.

Well putin won't be happy about trump wanting those mineral spoils then.

Re Europe and Germany, the Germans literally laughed at trump when he was saying ages ago spend more money.

Obama said on 2016, don't be complacent Europe spend more.

Well he's warned putin it could end in ww3...

StatuteofLiberty · 18/02/2025 21:41

Yes, wittering on? I got jelly if that's true would you be happy that your money is going to tax payers 300 years old ie fake??

StatuteofLiberty · 18/02/2025 21:41

2016 Obama was saying to Europe, wake the fuck up whilst Europe is sucking on America's teat. I don't know how they have had patience for so long.

Yes wittering, that’s exactly what he’s doing. The man can barely string a coherent sentence together. And no 300 year olds are getting social security, it’s been shown to be an IT error not actual payments.

The point has been made. We get it. However, it doesn’t mean that Trump gets to pull the rug and start determining outcomes for all and sundry.

And the point can be made without absolutely fucking your supposed allies.

1dayatatime · 18/02/2025 22:00

@WinterMorn

"The point has been made. We get it. However, it doesn’t mean that Trump gets to pull the rug and start determining outcomes for all and sundry."

Well when the harsh reality is that when European nations have been spending in average less than 2% of GDP (Spain and Belgium spend less than 1.3% FFS) and freeloading off the US that their opinions become irrelevant and the US gets to determine the outcomes.

Of course if the European nations don't like this they could always spend more on defence to be a credible alternative in say 10 or 20 years.

WinterMorn · 18/02/2025 22:05

@1dayatatime once again, we get it. The US still does not get to determine the outcomes. Do you really think that what’s going on right now is fair or just?

1dayatatime · 18/02/2025 22:07

@Igotjelly

"And the point can be made without absolutely fucking your supposed allies."

The supposed allies have been freeloading off US defence and US taxpayers since the 1960s.

They have been repeatedly warned by the US to increase their defence spending but ignored it. How many European nations sneered at the US for its lack of free state healthcare - well that was because US taxpayers were paying for Europe's defence.

Llttledrummergirl · 18/02/2025 22:14

I've just seen the clip of Trump wittering on about how if he had been in charge when Russia illegally marched into Ukraine, they would have destroyed no cities and only kept a small amount of land.

Trump is a fucking disgrace playing God with other countries territories.

1dayatatime · 18/02/2025 22:14

@WinterMorn

"@1dayatatime once again, we get it. The US still does not get to determine the outcomes. Do you really think that what’s going on right now is fair or just?"

Well the issue is that the US thinks it's fair and just but the Ukrainians and Europeans don't.

However when the US has been providing Europe's defence their opinion counts and the European opinion is irrelevant- fair or just doesn't come in to it.

For example if I'm paying for a friend to come on holiday then I get to decide where we go and the cost of it!

If the Europeans don't like it they can always offer to militarily support Ukraine in carrying on fighting and replace the billions in military aid from the US. But they won't.

WinterMorn · 18/02/2025 22:16

@1dayatatime β€œthe European opinion is irrelevant” ? Really? And if you don’t think being fair or just comes into this, you really are part of the problem.

1dayatatime · 18/02/2025 22:20

@WinterMorn

For what it's worth I think it's disgusting how Ukraine is being thrown under a bus but the fault lies more with the European nations than it does with the US.

Real appeasement is spending less than 2% of GDP on defence for decades. What Ukraine really needed from Europe was substantive military aid and equipment not supportive speeches, the US provided real military aid and now that's coming to an end.

WinterMorn · 18/02/2025 22:22

I can’t believe some of what I am reading on here.

You aren’t alone.

Llttledrummergirl · 18/02/2025 22:26

For example if I'm paying for a friend to come on holiday then I get to decide where we go and the cost of it!

If I want to take a friend on holiday as a treat, I ask them where they would like to go, what they would like to do and include them in the planning and budgeting stage. I may set parameters for the budget but do not dictate. That's not a good way to treat a friend.

America made promises and pledges under previous administrations, they don't get to change the terms on previous agreements retrospectively and have no claim on Ukraine or it's raw materials. Trump is proving untrustworthy, and by extension America.

I've had to delete several replies without posting because I'm pretty sure calling someone an uninformed fruitloop and fucking idiot would earn a deletion, but some of the apologist posts on here are outrageous.

And now Trump is calling for elections in Ukraine and questioning the legitimacy of Zelenskyy as president. Now, if that’s not rich I don’t know what is.

1dayatatime · 18/02/2025 22:30

@WinterMorn

"@1dayatatime β€œthe European opinion is irrelevant” ? Really? And if you don’t think being fair or just comes into this, you really are part of the problem."

Look you're dealing with Putin here - he's not a person you can reason with- he only respects strength. So when the European military is so weak and small then yes their opinion is irrelevant.

The UK spends 2.3% of GDP on defence and doesn't have enough soldiers to even police a peace deal. Meanwhile countries like Spain and Belgium spend less than 1.3% - this is totally taking the piss.

A lot of things aren't fair and just - I'm dealing with reality and spelling it out makes me part of the solution not the problem.

Wringing our hands and saying how we truly support Ukraine is the problem because it doesn't do anything to support or supply Ukrainian soldiers hanging on in the front lines defending their country.

Igotjelly · 18/02/2025 22:33

I suppose they were always going to crawl out the woodwork when it ended up the way it is.

Llttledrummergirl · 18/02/2025 22:36

Trump can't even get the name of the capital city of Ukraine correct. He has no business putting his stupidity anywhere near Europe.
He and his team are disingenuous, and the more they speak, the more overt it becomes. Wankers.
