Hi my daughter is 14 and she has had lots of pain under belly button and now it is in her back as well bottom left, she has had this for last 4 months but seems to be in constant pain, the pain is worse when she coughs or is walking about she has had blood test etc but all ok? She has been referred to gynaecology and for an ultrasound but these could take months for an appointment has anyone had anything like this? She hasn't really had a fever always just 37 or just below/above? Thanks

A couple things: what are her bowels like? Her diet? I think there is often an assumption that something like this is gyn but could be digestive as well, specifically in the colon.

As for ultrasound, if you have the money, go get it done privately. The trick will be finding a clinic that will see her at 14. It’s surprisingly affordable. I’ve done a quick search local to me and they are anywhere from £50-150. Alternatively, be a noisy bee. Keep ringing to follow up on the referral. Ask for an email you can reach them at and send updates of new symptoms or any changes.
