lnks · 15/02/2025 03:45

Im sorry you’re feeling so lonely. It can be soul destroying. Do you have family that live with you?

I'm here OP, do you want to say a bit about what's been going on for you? So sorry things have been rubbish, you aren't alone here x

lnks · 15/02/2025 03:45

I have a condition that affects my sleep

Barleysugar86 · 15/02/2025 03:46

Yep. I've been in a bad habit of not really trying to sleep until 4am lately. It makes me feel awful when I need to get up for work.

Has anything changed in the last few weeks to affect your mood? It is a depressing cold time of year, I find it hard to stay cheerful.

I have a 16 year old son who lives with me but I don't get much out of him he's very self contained . I miss my daughter she's away at uni

@spanieleyes22 sorry to read you are low. This time of night is the worst of all. Is there anyone who might meet for a chat and coffee over the weekend?

@heavenstruck Congrats on the new baby 👶

lnks · 15/02/2025 03:49

If you are a similar age to me it’s a very strange time. Perimenopause had killed my self confidence. It really is quite isolating and lonely.

And (almost) empty nest syndrome is real too

Huge congratulations on your new baby. I bet you’re shattered.

frozendaisy · 15/02/2025 03:52

I'm awake because I slept from 10pm
Hopefully I will go back to sleep in a bit which I advise you try OP

Even if you don't sleep just lying, relaxing, eyes closed is better than doomscrolling
Do you have anything to read?

I have a short story book "Illuminations" by Alan Moore (if you don't know him he wrote V for Vendetta and Watchmen)
And "Once Upon A Time World" by Jonathan Miles (about the artists behaving badly at the French Riveria - Cannes in the 1900s)

Or search FB for local, female friendship groups, book clubs (some online), there is a monthly online book club on the MN What we are Reading board, walking groups. People aren't going to come knocking on your door you need to seek out company if you so desire butt there are groups out there if you can take a leap of faith,.

No I don't really know anyone here. I have things to do but everything is so hard. Just takes a massive amount of energy . I hate moaning though I need to get myself together

I'm awake.
I'm on a night shift.
I prefer nights as I'm a terrible sleeper anyway, worse with perimenopause in the mix.
I've just rewatched ep1 S1 of The Handmaids Tale in preparation for the final series, as beautifully stunning as it is disturbing.

PopGoesBang · 15/02/2025 03:54

I'm awake after an unexpected right hook from the two year old that's in the middle of the bed!

I can also hear the dogs having a wrestling match downstairs.
Was going to go down and have a quiet cuppa and read a little but the tweenager is asleep on the sofa after falling asleep playing the ps5.

So I'll settle with letting the dogs out for a wee and a cuppa in the dark and try and avoid any flailing limbs from the toddler.

I hope everyone gets a little more sleep and has a relaxed weekend.

Yes I know what I need to do. I have tried and have some things in place but last few weeks I keep not bothering and then feel worse of course. That's the thing with depression I know what I need to do to feel better but it seems impossible when you're in the throes of it. Thx for listening
