I have a flat roof on my porch so does that count when home insurance asks "how much of your roof is flat" does my porch roof count towards that?

yes

Yes but it will be a tiny percentage l, they don't tend to care until over between 10&25% depending on insurance company

If it's just a porch I imagine the % of total roof area is very small. I've a kitchen extension with flat roof, estimating ~25% of total and our insurance went up minimally.

Yes it does count as you have a flat roof on part of your home. Have a look at your house on google maps and give a rough estimate as to how much of the porch takes up of the entire roof. That way they can probably work out that it is a porch.

That's such a good idea I didn't think of that! Thank you

They usually ask ‘is more than 25% of your roof is flat’ or something like that. In which case no it isn’t.

Why do they ask, does anyone know?

Because they are notorious for leaking and/or getting storm damage. They need lot of upkeep.
