Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale gin

I've got a bottle of this gin today (it's massively discounted at Morrisons currently), not tried it yet and am wondering what mixer would work best with it. Any suggestions? Normal tonic might be a bit strongly flavoured? If you drink this, how do you have it?

I'd just go with tonic water 👍

Ok cool, will give it a try

It probably says on the blurb on the back of the bottle?

You could also try lemonade

I'd be wondering if the blackcurrant flavour would mean you couldn't actually taste the tonic so it would be a waste and I'd try it with cheap sparking water, so a bit like an alcoholic fizzy blackcurrant. Or lemonade, or possibly ginger ale might work.

But I was very interested in 'heavily discounted gin' and rushed off to the Morrisons website only to find that all the ones I'm interested in are out of stock Sad.

Cherryade 😋

I had it with tonic last night, it was good but I don't think the tonic worked with that well. I'll try lemonade but I think it might be a bit sweet. Still pondering

Tanqueray say that it is 'Best Enjoyed With Ice, Lemonade, Lemon, And Berries'.

ApolloandDaphne · 14/02/2025 16:32

What about bitter lemon? I imagine that would be less sweet. Blackcurrant and lemon goes well together.

Bjorkdidit · 14/02/2025 16:41

Bitter lemon or cloudy lemonade might work. I remember once having a mixed drink in a bar that was sloe gin and San Pellegrino limonata that was similar flavours and very nice, except that the amount of gin was a bit stingy.

Mm, bitter lemon sounds interesting

Try it with Prosecco! 🍾

Robinchat · 14/02/2025 20:24

Not a prosecco (or any wine) fan, but my adult daughter would like that so thanks for the tip
