Merangue advice

unlikelychump · 13/02/2025 21:30

My merangue is not quite ready and I want to go to bed! I reckon it needs another 20-30 mins

Do I:

  1. Also wait up another hour for it to cool before I put it in a container?
  2. Leave it out on the counter all night?
  3. Turn the oven off and let it cool in the oven all night?

Please!

Switch the oven off and leave it there overnight to dry out, never fails for me.

3 if you want a crispy meringue, 2 if you are after a more pavlova type chewiness to it.

Chocoholicnightmare · 13/02/2025 21:35

I always leave my meringue in the oven overnight.

unlikelychump · 13/02/2025 21:35

Yes!!! I was erring towards 3. I feared people would say that was slovenly!

Definitely 3.

The meringue recipe I use actually says to turn off the oven and leave it in there overnight. It's never failed for me. Grin

Would help to spell meringue correctly!
I you do not have the correct ratio of sugar to egg white it doesn't really matter.
I would do as others have suggested and just leave the meringue in the oven overnight.

unlikelychump · 13/02/2025 21:54

Who says I don't have the correct ratios, are you watching me? 😁

I always like it when people can't spell the same words I can't spell. Grin

Yeah I couldn't be bothered to comment on the spelling slur. But the suggestion my "sweet treats" weren't made correctly pushed me into indignation! They look great today, pleasingly.
