Do I have to disclose this to new employer? Will my old employer disclose it?

I had a performance review around 4 months before I ultimately jumped ship. I am worried I may have to disclose this shortly before I join my new employer… or will my old employer disclose this in references? Very worried

Sorry to be clear I was put on performance review and it did not go well!

I work in HR and I wouldn't disclose it if I were you. We only issue standard references confirming the dates of employment and job title etc. It's genuinely not worth the hassle of dealing with a disgruntled ex employee that lost a job offer because we gave performance management details on a reference. The vast, vast majority of references we receive for new starters from other companies are also very basic confirmations that they worked for the company in the job that they told us they did.

I would be surprised if your old employer mentions it on a reference. It's not impossible but the odds are in your favour.

If you failed a formal performance management plan it can be disclosed but if it was informal then they are unlikely to disclose it

Don’t disclose it yourself. It is extremely unlikely that your previous employer would disclose it either, most employer references simply state role held and dates of employment.
