Can anyone give me any ideas, I'm hopeless at coming up with anything original/special.
He really enjoys horse racing. There's a large racing festival the same week as his birthday every year and as usual all his friends and myself (and some extras this year) are getting together for lunch, drinks to watch in pub and then a meal out. That's what he really wants to do. He wouldn't want to go to the festival on another day, as it's absolutely packed out. Looked at surprising him with a trip to a different racecourse on my weekend off, but he's already suggested it.
He's retired, likes walking, cycling, belongs to a gym, enjoys a drink (although not a heavy drinker). He likes animals and keeps fish. We enjoy a meal out, but there's nowhere particularly special he'd want to go.
He doesn't need any new clothes, has loads of drinks glasses which are nice and been gifted in the past.
I've actually asked him if there's anything he wants and he said just being with me and what he's doing with his friends is enough. I haven't got loads of money, but could stretch to £175 - we usually spend £60ish on eachother and that would be fine with him if it was the right thing.
