SUV, MPV or Van

We currently use an old Passat diesel estate ( cost only £1200 ) for a family get aways which hasnt been too bad when we have had 4 adults in the car AND three bog dogs which go in the boot. The roof box is essential though

Now, which is great of course, our son says he wants to start coming with us.

The passat is just not big enough for 5 adults and 3 dogs plus luggage

So, we are looking for a cheap suv/mpv/van which is wider than the passat, more legroom, and more boot space. Under £5k

some of the suggestions given to me so far are :-

Citroen Dispatch 6 seater van, Ssangyong Turismo suv, Renault Trafic 9 seater van, Honda Stepwagon and the Hyundai i800

We would like to go 4 or 5 times a year so probably around £4k miles a year

Any advice ?

I've got a vauxhall zafira. It's not the nicest to drive, but it has seven seats or five and a huge boot. Mine cost £5k in 2021 so should be within budget.

Thanks.. would you believe the zafira is actually shorter than the passat estate and only 5 cm wider so not a lot different

No-one else had this problem ?
