Does anyone else's cat do this?

If I'm in bed and my cat is there too, if she sees my legs or anything moving under the duvet she will think it's a creature of some kind and will try to pounce on my legs 🤣 so I find myself trying to keep extra still now

Absolutely typical cat behaviour. Great game😂

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 11/02/2025 08:35

Standard catting I'm afraid.

PsychoHotSauce · 11/02/2025 08:35

Why would you keep still?!

Same, my cat does that too!😂

VeryDeepEverything · 11/02/2025 08:36

Surely that's one of the pluses of being a fidget?

Aintnobodygottime · 11/02/2025 08:38

Make a v-shape with your legs and wiggle each big toe in turn. See how fast your cat can corner.

Itsfiiiine · 11/02/2025 08:57

Mine bit my toe the other night Hmm. Must remember not to put feet outside duvet.

Bjorkdidit · 11/02/2025 08:57

We call that the 'bed mouse' game. Because they chase around the bed as if they're hunting a mouse running around under the duvet.

Waterboatlass · 11/02/2025 08:58

Yes they use it for agility practice. Great fun!

Maybe the op needs thicker bedding. My cat bites the creature beneath the bedclothes and it sometimes hurts, even through the duvet!

SlashingRedRibbons · 11/02/2025 09:11

Lightly scratch the mattress too . Sends them nuts as they think it's a rodent under the duvet .

Chemenger · 11/02/2025 09:19

Bed mice! Most cats do this. I would have said all cats but our current cat very seldom lowers himself to do anything as common as playing. We can wiggle our toes in complete safety.

Remaker · 11/02/2025 09:24

One of mine loves this game. I enjoy it more in winter when my duvet is thicker. In the Australian summer our bedding is very thin and my toes get chomped.

Allthebrokenplaces · 11/02/2025 09:28

My cat can't abide any part of your body appearing suddenly from under the duvet. Head out, all night, that's fine. But if a hand or foot or side suddenly appears at any point, he is there to assist you in getting that bit back under as quickly as you possibly can.
Feeling a cat paw on the back of your knee is not the best way to be woken at 4 am. I cocoon now where possible.
