Being forced down a certain path

Do you know of anyone who was forced/pressured/guided down a subject/career path?

If so, honestly, did they stick with the career and have success? Or did they leave it for something else?

Yes, knocked them off course, made them feel incredibly depressed and halted their life for several years.

Not sure what the nature of your question or your situation is but the world is full of people who hate their chosen careers. Never a good idea to push kids to be one thing. Over time people tend to excel in what they find passion in. I will also say that the vast majority of people I know 40+ are not doing whatever they did a degree in.

My parents tried to push me towards the financial sector. I remember getting told off for not wanting to work such hours. They didn't believe the hours were horrendous at all.

But I now do not work in finance and I genuinely like the career I've been doing.
