Has anyone ever started tinnitus out of nowhere in one ear?

I was sitting watching tv yesterday morning. Out of nowhere this buzzing started in one ear. I have tinnitus in both ears, have had for years, but that's a high pitch noise. This is lower, like the noise a fridge makes, just in one ear.

Then same ear totally blocked up and whole side of face felt a bit off.

I've woken up today and the blockage is gone but the tinnitus is still there. And it's REALLY loud. Kept me awake.

Do you think it will go?

I've had pulsatile tinnitus in one ear for two and a half years. I can tell you my heart rate right now by listening. MRI is clear. Not anaemic. BP is fine.
Get your ears checked as first step.

@Sunnnybunny72

Thank you, I will. Two and a half years. Gosh, poor you.

I've had the high pitch noise for about 30 years but I'm used to it now. This new one sided noise is awful 😣 I can even hear it above the tv!

Not to scare you OP but DD experienced similar last year - a sudden blocked, muffled feeling in one ear alongside very loud tinnitus. Like you, one side of her face also felt strange. It ended up being a condition called Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss which can become permanent if not treated promptly with steroids (ie within the first 48 hours). Make an emergency GP appointment tomorrow or ring 111. You need to see an ENT

I know its been a while, but how are you doing now? I'm a recent tinnitus (developer? sufferer?) and really struggling.

I've had it on and off my whole life. One ear, both ears. At the moment it's low level, other times it's loud. I get off to sleep by listening to audio books. I don't think about it much anymore. I've had my ears checked and nothing found.
