Or indeed at any other time?

Usually I make our lunches for tomorrow but I cba right now. Hoping to find motivation soon but I'm snuggled on the sofa reading my book.
I also think my tween hadn't even emptied her lunch box from her bag last week. She's driving me a bit mad atm.

coodawoodashooda · 09/02/2025 20:20

I try and start the evening routine at 4pm

coronafiona · 09/02/2025 20:22

House cleaned, all laundry and homework done, leftover roast for dinner tomorrow. My hair is washed, nails done etc so can just get up and go

EndorsingPRActice · 09/02/2025 20:30

Feeling lucky as I wfh Mondays and so have ages Monday mornings to get things ready as I don’t start until 9am. But I have planned meals and bought food for the week, I’m on top of the washing and I cleaned out the guinea pigs cage and pen thoroughly. I’ll have a couple of hours tomorrow am before I start work and I aim to clean the bathrooms and wash all the tiled floors in the house then (hall, kitchen, utility and bathrooms). My project for the week is to clean the oven so I may start that off too.

I try to do as little as possible on a Sunday.

However as a minimum I do

a quick food shop
pack my gym bag
pack my work bag
pack DD nursery bag

Sunday Organisation:

5 lots of clean uniform put hung up in each child's wardrobe- socks / tights, knickers/ boxers for younger children included.

5 x beds all changed with clean bed linen.

Empty laundry basket

Clean clothes folded in the baskets in utility room for each person to collect take upstairs and put away.

My children tidy and hoover their rooms on a Sunday morning.

DH batch cooks and freezes four dinners for mid week and gives the kitchen a good clean.

Money topped up on eldest child's parent pay for school lunches in the week ahead.

DH makes a batch of sandwiches and freezes them for packed lunches for the coming week. Fruit/ veg chopped up and put into pots ditto yoghurt. Makes it easier making packed lunches in the morning x 3.

He has also made mine and his work day lunches for two days- Clementine and feta bowl and Smokey beans.

water bottles are cleaned and sterilised x 6

My own work clothes are put out inc underwear, hosiery

My work bag is packed.

PE kits and school bags ready and hung up on each child's coat hook.

Washed and dried the children's hair.

Now sat down with a glass of wine doing my online shop and scrolling MN.

This thread makes me feel very inadequate 😣

I’ve never been to a gym at 6am, only once soaked oats overnight.
I have been known to get dressed by picking up the item of clothing from over the back of the chair I slung it the night before.

Same... I started reading it out of curiosity. Now I feel so disorganised! I have at least out DD6 uniform out for tomorrow and put away laundry. That's better than some Sundays! As for my own clothes same as you!

Whatwouldnanado · 09/02/2025 20:40

Just DH and me now so it’s just clothes for the week and mental food plan and shop done.
When kids were at school would make them
responsible for getting bags/uniform ready the night before, never did it for them. One used to put toothpaste on her brush ready! Socks in shoes etc. Pleased to say they’re both really organised now as adults.

DatingDinosaur · 09/02/2025 20:43

Work clothes and gym kit organised for the week.

Lunch made for Monday and Tuesday (it's always some sort of pasta salad with leftover meat so it will last 2 days if made in advance). Monday's evening meal out of the freezer to defrost in the fridge and veg prepped.

Nice shower and pamper so I just need a swill down in the morning.

Check diary for any appointments for the upcoming week.

Go through the TV guide and record anything I like the sound of.

Pedallleur · 09/02/2025 20:48

School uniform laundered and handed over. Any other laundry dried/ironed, put away. Clothes set out for the cycle to work. Work clothes in bag with wallet. To do list written

I will just add though-I was replying to the OP in good faith about what I do on Sundays. Not really expecting to be told I am babying my child and ruining him by merely talking about how I iron his clothes. But hey ho. Just feel lucky if you don't have a child who suffered from such an appallingly mismanaged birth that he ended up with severe disabilities.

Apologies Professor - you didnt give any context at all so it was impossible to know your situation. There are deffo people whose kids ARE totally capable but their parents do exactly as you are doing. I didnt mean to offend or upset you.

BubblinTrouble · 09/02/2025 20:53

Mainly meal prep:
overnight oats for the week
shred a whole chicken for lunches
make burger slices (marinate these overnight and cook them tomorrow) for dinner
made a veg side to throw into salads
made two curries to eat during the week
and a bolognaise to eat with pasta or on jacket potatoes

kids bags packed
my bag packed - work and gym
outfit ready on the door
updated Sainsbury’s food shop
meal planned for the week after

loaded washing basket for a wash tomorrow first thing

Toohardtofindaproperusername · 09/02/2025 20:53

wife work is a very good book i hear.

WhassatNow · 09/02/2025 20:54

Usually make a batch of something for a few lunches and freeze the rest, so there's some variety each week (a couple of the latest batch whatever and the other days from previously frozen, portioned batch meals). Often a soup as well. I'll make yoghurt if I've got the opportunity, otherwise it'll be done before a work-from-home day. If I've oodles of time, there'll be flapjack / similar sort of tray bake / simple baking. I check where I need to be on Monday and set alarm, if needed, accordingly. It's not all on me - my husband has regular(ish) things he'll do, and the kids also do their jobs to help the family run smoothly so we can get them to their fun activities on the more hectic school nights.

DorothyStorm · 09/02/2025 21:01

We are busier as a family on a Sunday than a Saturday due to daughter’s hobby and we cook for my parents and drop that off on a Sunday, so we have to spread crappy house jobs through the weekend.

We thoroughly clean the house on a Saturday. Children do their own rooms and their bathroom. Today I have batch cooked my lunches for the start of week. Later in the week i will have leftovers. I made a lasagne for tomorrow’s dinner. the washing baskets are now empty (for a good ten minutes!) and dh is currently ironing. Ive marked a set and a half of exercise books. Dh has filled both cars with fuel. kids have done all homework set.

we both work full time and have a hour commute each way. We need to be organised by Sunday evening.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 09/02/2025 21:02

We always cook a “two day” dinner on a Sunday so we don’t have to worry about Monday. Today I made a lasagne, but it’s usually DP who does something.

I have a bath and shave legs, then do pedicure, manicure, tan afterwards.

Bathroom deep cleaned every Sunday, DP mops and hoovers. I generally do a couple of hours of work in the evening as Monday’s my WFH day so it means I have a gentle start.

LemonChicken4Tea · 09/02/2025 21:04

Doesn't overnight oats go off if its left for a week in the fridge? Mine did the only time I tried it. Thought I could use left over roast chicken for a meal in the week, but the carcass is stripped bare!! Off to make a weekly plan, I didn't realise these levels of organization are possible😬

This is amazing organisation and so much work!…. But freezing sandwiches… ??? Does this work?!

wineandsunshine · 09/02/2025 21:11

I prep my clothes the night before so I don't have to rummage around in the morning and stress over finding tights etc!

Meal prep is usually left over dinner so that's in the fridge for the next day.

To be honest, I'm so tired and counting down the days until HT next week so I can have a week off teaching!

Ihavenoideahowtodressforthisinterview · 09/02/2025 21:12

Clothes washed and enough uniform/ work clothes in wardrobe to get through the start of the week. Lunches prepped for tomorrow, the house is cleaned. Shopping done so might get through a few days without having to go to a supermarket. I often make meals on Sunday that can stretch to Monday which is always helpful.

Bigfellabamboo · 09/02/2025 21:12

Packed 5 year olds school bag and that's it. Just got to get up, get washed, dressed, chuck some lunch in a bag and go out the door, not much to stress about.

Simonjt · 09/02/2025 21:13

Not a lot as I’m very disorganised, I make sure our son has everything he needs for school, as he prats about in the mornings we get his clothes for the week ready and in order so he has one less excuse to be slow in the morning.

BakewellGin1 · 09/02/2025 21:28

Today I have bleached kitchen and bathroom.
Uniform is ironed and homework done.
My lunch and snacks are ready for tomorrow.
Paid up on Parent Pay
Gym clothes sorted for tomorrow early class
Car has been washed and petrol in
Food shop was delivered.

Took less then 2 hours of my day and means everyone has a settled start to the week. Rest of the day has been spent relaxing and taking small one to rugby and swimming

Oblomov25 · 09/02/2025 21:33

It all gets done naturally, without even thinking about it. All school uniform washed on Friday night, and ironed on Saturday. All shopping done and the next 3 meals planned. Diary looked at to see if any parents evening or big thing is mid week. Don't most people do all this stuff just naturally?

MrsKarlUrban · 09/02/2025 21:40

Got all school stuff ready. Nice dinner, bath, call the midwife and read of Mumsnet.
