Pretending to be friends?

Have you ever lived with or been in a long term relationship with an opposite sex partner, but told everyone you were just friends?
What would you think if someone you know did this?

No but I imagine those around you would guess anyway. Your body language / level of familiarity would give you away.

I woudl respect their privacy but I would be a bit sad that they felt I wouldn't accept their sexuality and I would look at my behaviour to see if there was any reason they might think that

At school my friend and her boyfriend pretended to be friends but we all knew. A couple at work when I was in my twenties also did this. Pretty weird really
