EBF and c-section delivery

3 weeks postpartum: “why don’t you start 5km runs again?”

3 weeks postpartum: “why don’t you leave her with me you can get your hair and nails done for the day?”

8 weeks postpartum: “have you managed to get to the gym much?”

😂 sometimes i just have to laugh or it will drive me mad

I had the same postnatal community midwife for DD2 as I'd had for DD1. At one of the checks around 2weeks I think, she randomly said to me "this is your second one isnt it. Have you ever thought about becoming a midwife? I think you'd be really good at it!". I was so shocked, I said something like "oh, I dont think committing to night shifts would be a good idea with two DC now!" In my head , I was thinking that I have a job that pays much more and is much MUCH easier than being a midwife so no thanks! DH thought maybe it's a mad new NHS recruitment technique!

From my MIL....oh you look tired....

It made me irrationally cross!

Having a mw whisper I had a 'close gentleman friend' asking to see me at the desk... I could leave the ward to go speak to him but he couldn't see the baby as they can't leave the ward until discharge... Took me a while to click she thought he was the other man!! It was my mate's dh to tell me my dm had fallen while taking dc 1 and 2 to school.. I discharged myself and dc 3 came on the school run at 6 hours old!!
Still makes me chuckle!!

At about 4 weeks PP I got asked if I wanted to host an extended family get together at my house in a couple of weeks time. It was my second baby, and I’d had a very traumatic PPH. Recovery was extremely slow, I could barely walk across a room at that point without feeling faint. So that was an easy “no”…!

Me too!! I’ve had this from three people! Why just why!! “You look tired” 3 days PP - yes, that’s because I am!
I also got “you look pale” which is as an equally helpful comment x
