My husband and I have always been really sociable with lots of friends.

As we've got older we don't go out that much due to kids. We are MUCH older parents and our friends all had their children years ago.

Our friendship group has dwindled a fair amount and we now just have a couple of close friends.

We are not particularly unhappy with this and I like my own company.

I just wondered if, as you get a lot older, it's normal to not go out much (we even stayed in for the first time on NYE this year) and for friendship groups to get a lot smaller?

I've gone from seeing friends every weekend in my 20s, to once per month in my 30s, to a few times per year now. It suits me perfectly and I'm 40 and single with no desire to have children.

I genuinely love and am most content in my own company. I don't get fear of missing out anymore I get fear of being invited! Give me a forest over a cocktail bar any day. I just can't be arsed.

Glad it's not just me then!
