What’s happening with my BIAB nails?

Had BIAB about a week ago, after six months of gels which didn’t last more than a week without chipping. I chose to go for BIAB as it was supposed to be much more long lasting.

But mine are already starting to look like they’re fading or wearing away at the tips. Is this normal? To me, it looks like my nails have dirt under them and that they need a good scrub, but they’re really clean underneath.

The image is under review, so may take a while to appear.

My Biab stays perfect between appointments but only since I switched to a different nail tech.

Mine do that if they are very short when it's applied. Seems to work much better when you have a bit more length to start with.

Ah, they were very short when it was applied. They still are. When I go next, will it all have to be redone from scratch or will they be able to redo the ends do you think?

I think should be ok unless it totally lifts off, but even if that does happen would not be all your nails

Hoglet70 · 08/02/2025 07:35

They are just scuffed at the ends as your nails are short. That wont be an issue on reapplication and as your nails grow you'll find it will last longer.

Thanks for the input. I thought I was getting something that would look good for longer than this, or I’d have stuck with gels. I really don’t like them looking like they’re dirty.

Will the whole nails that are scuffed need to be removed and reapplied do you think? I originally thought I’d be able to have infills at nail bed area only.

When they infill they file down the first colour and then repaint the BIAB over the whole nail, so it will be fine when you get them redone.

Ask for infill, still builder, it’s cheaper and good for growth. Takes colour off and the redo whole top layer. I only get regrowth from the cuticle end after a couple of weeks.

Mine look a bit like that, I think because BIAB is a bit thicker than normal gel
