I decided today I’m leaving my job and likely to leave teaching. I just wanted to get it out -a quarter of a century šŸ˜‚ enough for anyone

as they say in dragons den ā€˜I’m out’

Happy Friday

Not a teacher but with the way kids are nowadays I don't blame youšŸ˜‚ good luck with whatever comes next😁

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 07/02/2025 19:25

Best of luck girl!

I'm eyeing up the wine for the evening, you should treat yourself to a champers (if you drink), you deserve it for 25 years of teaching! 🄰

Thank you. I’ve wine šŸ·
it’s not the students actually .. I’m tough enough for them - it’s the horrible staff and leadership (favouritism) it’s the ones who work the least get the respect and promotions and are sneaky snakes šŸ

I’m done āœ”ļø have a lovely weekend one and all

Congrats 🄳

I was made redundant and the job market is very tricky so if you need your salary then I'd highly recommend securing a new role before leaving this one.

I left teaching last July OP. Best decision ever. Been an English teacher for decades. Big high school, loved the kids, SLT did my head in. Go for it. My only regret is that I didn’t get out earlier.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 07/02/2025 20:15

Good for you OP!! (Unless you work at DSs already understaffed school, obviously šŸ˜‚) ~ I cannot believe everything teachers have to deal with, on the salary they earn. It's mental 😬

I got out after a mere twelve years - secondary English - and went back to my original career of. Marketing. Someone I worked with in teaching walked right past me in Sainsbury's, did a double-take and came back to ask me what on earth I'd done - I looked ten years younger!

Congratulations!

My husband and mum are teachers and most of my childhood friends are. I understand you 100%.

I’m in SEN in a high behavioural needs class. It was my vocation I felt

however I moved schools - the school is awful . I can take the behaviours from the students but my god - the staff 🫣

What will you do, going forward OP? Will you retire, supply teach or do something else? This is such a tough job and the workload is making it increasingly untenable.

The staff were always worse than the pupils
