DD7 would like to play some games on her tablet. I think it's fine for a little bit of downtime but want to choose something appropriate. I don't want anything with ads and don't mind if there is a subscription but not keen on ones that prompt you to pay more once you have started. Any ideas?? So far, she just has learning ones like TT Rockstars.

I'm afraid I think giving primary age children access to computer games is a very bad thing. Why not get her some creative play stuff?

No adverts - I would assume any of the BBC ones would only be linked to or promoting their programmes, which wouldn't really be like the terrible pop up ads every few minutes.

Some recommended lists like this may help https://www.commonsensemedia.org/lists/free-apps-for-kids

Free Apps for Kids

Common Sense Media editors help you choose Free Apps for Kids. You don't need to spend money for great games.

She does that too and any screen time on the tablet will mean less on TV as she has a daily limit. I'd just rather steer her towards something decent than to ban it altogether because she sees her friends playing games and wants to try it too.

If she is into Barbie there is a dream house adventures app (based on the tv show) where they can dress up Barbie/make up dances etc. You can play for free but pay a subscription (tenner a months if I remember rightly) to access more stuff, I paid it for a month or two but DD prefers her switch so hardly played it.

Minecraft is good and there are some free little painting apps and word search apps that DD sometimes plays. She likes candy crush on my phone when we have long waits like at the doctor or dentist (she is 8).
