Shop bought pie recommendations?

DH not keen on the butcher’s pies we’ve tried so looking for recommendations from supermarkets etc. Meat pies with both a bottom & a lid.

Pieminster are good

M&S.. l love their pastry.
Big family pie or single pies for one.
Steak
Chicken
Mince beef etc
I've got a small chicken one for my tea .. can't wait 😋😋😋

Co op Steak Pie are delicious.
Avoid the Chicken Pie (Very little filling)

I find them always disappointing. They have so little filling.

Aldi do steak and Ale pies that are really nice.

Waitrose steak and kidney puddings are also very good

watirose are the best, or Booths if you are lucky enough to live near one.

Turner’s Pies. They’re not supermarket, but they have an online order. You can mix and match individual or larger pies and there are fruit ones too. If you’re in the south there are four shops along the south coast.

Pieminister are the best! I'm local to Bristol, they're based here, and all their pies are delicious - well filled, distinctive flavours. They often appear on offer in supermarkets. Best eaten from one of their cafes or food trucks as a "Mothership" with mash, minted mushy peas, gravy, cheese and crispy shallots...

Was that the one on The Apprentice? They looked amazing if so!

Best pies we have are from the independent butcher in Comrie. Not very useful if you’re in Brighton, though 😁

I'm surprised that the butcher's pies aren't as good as supermarket pies. It mustn't be a very good butcher.

The best pies where I live are from a local butcher or from the local farm shop. Luckily the local Co-op sell the farm shop pies.

I'm sure there must be a farm shop near you that does nice pies.

As far as Supermarket Pies go, the family size Pukka Pies I find excellent value for money. I was surprised at how much filling there was considering the price.

Second Turners. They are DELISH!

Yes they are! They’re very good indeed. There are shops in Chichester, Rustington, Petersfield and Bognor Regis. They’re always busy. They do gravy and mash as well, in pots, if you choose.

I think the Cook ones are excellent (but pricey).

Pieminister pies are generally great but waitrose and M&S own-brand ones can also be good. Avoid the Pukka brand.

Anyone know of any chain places that sell the pies where the pastry is made with animal fat? Had these once from a local butcher but could never find them again!

The Great North Pie company will ship pies to you. They are excellent.
