Me & my 3 teenagers are currently in temporary accommodation, have been on the housing list since 2022. Because we need a 4 bed house, it's been a long wait but this week a brand new build has been listed.
I bid on it straight away and from when it was active Monday morning & after I bid, I've been position #1.
I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up so I asked my housing officer if there was a glitch meaning others had bid but it wasn't showing or if I actually was still #1. She told me the usual if I'm #1 at closing then allocations will be in touch but she also told me to upload my most recent, full bank statement "to speed the process up" my head's now going crazy thinking this means I may well just get the place but she can't actually tell me yet as the advert is still active.
I know my position can change at any time & the as doesn't close until Monday but it's been 4 days with me at #1.
My neighbour, also temp but only been waiting 9 months, has told me her friend was given the house so I should withdraw my bid coz it's not going to be given to me & the council need to remove it.
Has anyone been in a similar situation, where they've been #1 right up until the last minute then not got the property?
I'm just so desperate for us to have our forever home, my brains already telling me we've got the place but my hearts telling me to be realistic ðŸ˜
