Birthday party invites classmates

Hello,
My child’s birthday is in a month, and I’m starting to think about invitations. In the past, we invited kids and parents outside of school whom I knew personally, but this year, my child (Year 1) wants to invite a few friends from class.

I can’t invite the whole class, and I’m not sure if that’s common practice these days. What’s the best way to hand out invitations? Should I ask my child to give them out discreetly, or is there a better approach? I don’t have the parents’ contact details—would you recommend trying to obtain them?

Would love to hear any suggestions. Thanks!

Let him choose a given number that's manageable, write invitations and ask the teacher to hand them out IF you can't get the parents' numbers; if you can, send WhatsApps!

It varies school to school, but most Infant teachers would be happy to pass on 6 or 7 invitations if you asked them to.

@Catsansan You will get a barrage of replies telling you teachers will not do this. So I would ask first but be prepared for No.

I used to hand them to parents or dc outside school. I know it’s difficult if you work but these days dc get upset if not invited! Or join the WhatsApp and find out who people are! Do these dc never come round to play?

Thank you all. @TizerorFizz I know a few of the mums, but they don't have any play dates
