Most embarrassing job interview story?

Another thread prompted me to remember mine. Aged around 15 I went for an interview for a part time Saturday job at one of the high street clothing stores in the city centre, had to catch a bus etc.

One of the questions was something along the lines of "if you were going to steal something from [name of store], would it be, a) a purse, b) a pair of socks or c) some trousers?"

Me, being a naive 15 year old, with no lateral thinking at the time, said b) - my thought process being it would be the least expensive loss to the store.

Only when I got to school and told my friends did I realise I should have said ... "nothing". Arghhh! Ironically I was not a shoplifter and never have been and I think I would have been a good employee. Needless to say I never heard back! The shame!

Well, the interview actually went fine, and I got offered the job, which I accepted. The embarrassment came a couple of days later, when I had come to the realisation that I’d made a huge mistake, and had to ring up and tell one of the people who’d interviewed me that I couldn’t take the job after all! Felt terrible…but relieved at the same time!

I went for an interview for a job I didn't want to do anyway. It was a secretarial job and I'd found that if my boss had an interesting job then mine would be too, so I asked the guy what his job involved. He enjoyed answering it and did so at length but it was so boring that I actually fell asleep in the interview. I never heard whether I got that job!

Many years ago l dropped my handbag walking into the room (nerves), a Tampax rolled out the bag, then another, then another. It was almost as if there was someone inside of the bag rolling them out at regular intervals.

l got the job though.
