To hate my birthday

I have never enjoyed my birthday, l might of as a kid but l don’t remember, since being an adult l do dislike it. I hate going out for dinner with family l see rarely. I hate that my kids expect some big fun filled day, l would love a fun filled day if it was things l found fun or things l would like to do.

This year as l haven’t saved enough holidays for my birthday l had to work, l’m not bothered l don’t hate my job, but the whole evening has been about why l don’t want to go out for tea, my 12 year old clicking his knuckles and asking for cake which we don’t have but we would of if we went out for tea and picking arguments with his little sister and telling me he is sorry he has ruined my birthday. He is in his room now sulking, because l eventually had enough of telling him to stop and shouted. My husband thinks l’m punishing him for something by not wanting to go out, because what will the family think, but l don’t care what they think, l am so annoyed l just can’t have a peaceful birthday. I should have pretended l was working late and sat by the river although it would be bloody freezing this time of year.

l have a big birthday next year and l am dreading it already !!

I hate mine too. I don't mind getting old, but I loathe fuss - it's just embarrassing. I have a birthday with a zero this year - I have arranged to spend it alone, so I can ignore it, & have told anyone who asks that I will not be celebrating. Fortunately, it's only 24 hours, and then forgotten again!

I hate mine as well. I don't want to celebrate it, I've had 56 of the damn things and I'm so over it 🤣 I have enough candles to light a cathedral. Not sure why my family and friends want to celebrate it more than I do. (Disclaimer - I love and appreciate them all very much!)
