Potty training regression?

Just looking for advice/reassurance.

My son has been potty trained since about 2 years 11m. We had a few stop/start attempts before that, but he took to it very well eventually.

He’s now 3 years 2m and over the last week or so he’s had so many accidents. At nursery (always in late afternoon), in the car, at home. He even had one whilst in the bathroom brushing his teeth last night, just next to the toilet.

I can’t understand why this has happened. Nothing has changed in terms of routine. No special events, change to schedule…nothing.

I’ve tried to ask him but he’s not able to articulate any problem except to say he doesn’t like the nursery toilets. No further detail, but he also won’t use any toilet when we’re out. He’ll say he needs it, go in, look at the toilet and say he doesn’t need anymore. He’s always been like this.

I think he’s holding it all day at nursery (hence the accidents in late afternoon). The staff say he does go to the toilet but only sometimes uses it.

I don’t think it’s a UTI as he’s well otherwise and his urine is odourless and clear.

No pooing accidents, always pee.

I don’t know how to encourage him more than I already have. Please help.

How do you go?! Any success?

my daughter had been fully trained for 3 months and we now in the depths of some sort of regression. Lots of accidents at daycare, not so bad at home but seem to be having accidents of an afternoon
