Spooky places you've lived.

I know it's not Halloween, but having perused property, I thought I'd ask the question whether you've lived in places you believe were haunted. I've had two.

The first was feeling someone breathe on the back of my neck. I had my hair in a ponytail, and was hanging up my coat. I heard it and felt it but pretended I didn't notice as I was freaked out. It was a long exhale. Then there was the time in the same place where I thought I heard my then BF come in downstairs (we were in a flat) and hid behind the living room door, giggling and waiting to jump out after I heard the door slam. After a few minutes there was nothing so I came out and no-one was there.

I bought a terraced house, built in 1773. At the top of the stairs one day, I saw the shadowy figure I'd seen out of the corner of my eye for months come running up the stairs. Frozen in fear, I turned and felt this thing pass straight through me, turn left into the (now) bathroom and saw it leap through the window. That shit me up. 😳

I also stayed in a hotel once over Xmas, in Whitehaven. I came downstairs for dinner and was having a chat with the owners and told them of a weird 'dream' I'd had of a man standing over the bed, wearing a short cape with a Jacobean wide brimmed hat and that I'd looked down, but couldn't see his legs below the shins. The owner went white, rushed away and came back with a book describing the very same, which she'd bought after the house purchase. She also told me that the ceiling under the room I was in had been raised. Freaky moment.

I lived in an old house with my young son and husband. We were renting while we waited for our house purchase to go through. The back bedroom had a very weird feel to it (and I'm not at all superstitious) but I ignored it because the rent was low and the house was near work. This room was my son's bedroom. My son, who was 3, always a good sleeper, took to sleep walking, eyes wide open. He would sleepwalk into our bedroom, and stand, staring into space, over me.

We lived there for about 6 months until our purchase went though and honestly, I didn't sleep a whole night there the whole time. I was so freaked out, I honestly thought I was going crazy. I even considered an exorcism despite not believing in stuff like that. Day we moved out, I was fine again.

Nothing ever actually happened, but whatever caused it, I nearly had a breakdown over it.

There was something in a house I used to live in. It tapped me on the shoulder once when I was washing up. Another time both me and the cat sensed it in the hallway.

That was all. Nothing else happened and weirdly, it didn't scare me.

I quite often felt like I was being watched in my childhood bedroom. My parents used to joke that it was probably all of the posters I had up.
When my husband and I stayed the night as adults to help my parents move house, we stayed in my childhood bedroom. He woke in the night and saw a man just stood in the room, he shut his eyes and didn't look out of the covers again all night. I believe him, he's really not the sort to make that kind of thing up and he was pretty freaked out by it.

It can be a very disturbing experience, I think. Where I had the figure rush up the stairs I had a basement and that was incredibly unnerving - it had a really nasty feel to it :(

My first house felt very strange.

I renovated it from top to bottom but I moved before the first year was up. I would feel uneasy and watched, I was scared to be alone downstairs and there was shadows of figures upstairs.

I knew it didn’t feel right when I viewed it but I thought I was being silly and it just needed work doing to it. The house felt depressing at best so I took the first chance I got to move. I had to downsize but the house I moved into felt light and happy so I knew I’d done the right thing.
