Fit Notes

Given I've only learnt what a querff is today, I am clearly behind a curve. So another ignorant question...
When did a doctor's sick note become a fit note? Noticed it posted a couple of times on MN.

I was also a bit mystified when I kept seeing this reference to 'fit notes' on various online forums about PIP and ESA. I have always known them as 'sick notes'. Strikes me that the word 'sick' didn't sit easily with the powers that be so they changed it to 'fit'!

It's a bit more positive, reframing it to a fit note, isn't it?

It’s actually because they’re supposed to focus on what you are fit to do, rather than just that you’re sick.

eg. Sprained ankle. Fit for desk work, not fit for refereeing.

It was always queef and never queff or querff!
